In this lab my duties include working with several graduate students in the performance of fatigue research, stress analysis, fracture propagation and fracture surface analysis. This includes the frequent operation of a Sodick A350 wire EDM machine for the purpose of precise machining of exotic aircraft alloys. A recently completed project was the design and fabrication of a precise measurement fixture for use on our surface topography laser scanner. This position also requires the use of 3D CAD software and computer aided manufacturing. My current project is the development of a data acquisition system with LabVIEW and National Instruments equipment to assist in some residual stress measurement experiments.
